Christmas is coming. This is the busiest time of the year for all of us. There is Christmas shopping to be done, cards to be mailed, baking and decorating, etc, etc. All of this can cause us stress. I have a friend who doesn’t have even 10 minutes (and I mean 10 minutes), of free time. As I watch her taking care of her elderly parents and many other daily tasks, all she ever talks about when we get together, is how much of her time is taken up doing for others, and how much she wishes she had more free time for herself. My reply to her: “YOU have to take time for yourself, because if you don’t, nobody else will do it for you”. These are my exact words to her. She agrees with me, but doesn’t change anything anyways.
Do you rejuvenate yourself?
It is my belief that for you to be effective in accomplishing daily tasks you must: spoil and rejuvenate yourself! The reason for this is that if you take care of your own needs, you will be able to accomplish more, and get enjoyment out of this wonderful time of the year too. Rejuvenating yourself doesn’t have to be costly. Sometimes it’s little things in life that give us the most happiness. So, chill out, grab a steaming cup of coffee, snuggle up with a cozy warm blanket and try some or all of the following little rituals for a mood booster.
Give yourself a home pedicure. Soak your feet in warm water, pumice your heels, and apply nail polish to your toes after you trim your toenails. Follow by massaging coconut oil into the skin. Yummy! Then slip on some warm, cozy cotton socks and your feet will feel brand new.
Give yourself a home manicure. Soak your hands in warm soapy water. File your nails, trim cuticles and apply a base coat, followed by a nail polish in your favorite shade. Apply rich, nourishing cream, and voila! instant spirit booster. Show off those beautifully manicured hands!
Call a friend, have a nice conversation. There is nothing like a laugh or two with a close friend to brighten your mood. Social contact is so important in keeping us well balanced and content.
Watch a comedy instead of some violent, car exploding, depressing show. Laugh has got to be the best medicine. It truly helps you sleep better as you go to bed feeling light in spirit.
In conclusion I would like to say, please enjoy yourself. You have a right, and deserve to be joyous just as much as everybody else around you. This is the fun time of the year, so enjoy!!
