Minimally invasive facial procedure
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is used extensively in cosmetic industry to, reverse signs of skin aging. It holds 1000 times its weight in water within cells making it an effective anti aging substance in a good quality skin moisturizer. It helps plump facial tissue and add volume and elasticity to aging, sagging skin.
It’s for this reason that HA is a popular ingredient in facial fillers. What is facial filler? Facial filler is a cosmetic procedure used to add volume and youthful shape to an aging face. It is more commonly known by its commercial names: Juvederm, Perlane and Restylane. We have all heard and read about those products, haven’t we? Hollywood stars are very familiar with it.
How do I decide if I need facial filler?
All you have to do is look in the mirror. Do you see deep folds running from your nose down to the jawline? They are called “marionette” lines. Do you see deep furrows between your eyes? Do your friends often say you look “tired” even when you are not? If you answered yes to these questions, you should probably consider getting facial filler. So, now you’ve decided to go for it….what’s next?
You will make an appointment with a reputable cosmetic doctor. Ask questions about the latest trends in anti aging business to see if the doctor is up to date on new developments. He should have sufficient knowledge to explain differences between different fillers, as one doesn’t fit all. Some are longer lasting than others. If there are any concerns for possible side effects, your doctor will discuss that with you too.
He will examine your face very closely, to see where the filler will be needed. You will be asked what your expectation is, and explain what results you can expect. A few years ago, you would get numbing agent applied to your face first, but now they have anesthetic added to the filler itself, so it’s no longer painful when filler gets injected into your face. As recently as three years ago, there was some discomfort once filler was injected, but discomfort only lasted a short time. The end result was still worth a little discomfort.
Once filler is injected, (needle prick is the only discomfort) the doctor will make sure filler is distributed evenly by shaping it to contour your face. You will have to do the same 3 times/day for about 3 days to make sure filler is distributed evenly. The procedure itself takes about 30 minutes. Word of caution: stay away from professional that pushes unnecessary procedures. You want to look “natural”. He should be knowledgeable enough to do what is right for you, not what is profitable to his bottom line.
- A natural, younger looking you
- Filler boosts your natural production of collagen
- Will give your whole face a lifted look
A word of advice: Due to body’s natural process of destruction of HA, the procedure should be repeated every six months or so, to maintain your youthful look. So, there is some cost involved, but hey, isn’t our younger looking self, worth it? I surely think so.
