Rejuvenating facial toner
Contrary to its scary sounding name, the only “witchy” thing about this simple product is its beneficial astringent and anti oxidant properties and its, rejuvenating skin benefits. There are many beneficial uses for witch hazel, but this article is about, anti aging skin benefits, and I am going to be referring to the distilled witch hazel available online and drugstores. Steam distillation of the twigs, leaves and bark of the witch hazel shrub is the process used to produce a 100% natural, skin beneficial product you find in your drugstore. Here is how I like to use distilled witch hazel in my skin care regimen:
- As a pore minimizing astringent, apply it to a cotton ball, then gently wipe the sensitive under eye area first, then forehead, and then the rest of your face and neck. it’s best to do one side of the face at a time, and use a fresh cotton ball for the other side. Changing cotton ball prevents cross-infection of the eyes. You will notice immediate pore tightening. Then apply anti-oxidant rich, anti aging cream.
- When you have the time to pamper your skin, one procedure I like to use is this: wash your face thoroughly with lukewarm water before applying facial mask. After applying skin-appropriate mask, soak two cosmetic cotton pads with witch hazel then apply to closed eyes while facial mask does its magic. Once the time is up, wipe off facial mask with the two cosmetic pads on your eyes (in this case avoiding eye area) and then rinse off your face with water. By re-using witch hazel soaked pads on your face, it tightens your pores at the same time. Then apply your favorite anti aging cream. You can literally see the anti aging effects of this procedure. Really wonderful!
This simple, all natural, very inexpensive product is a must have in everyone’s medicine cabinet for cosmetic use as well. Give it a try. You will love it. Leave a reply here with any additional tips you may have. We would love to hear from you.
